Back From Disneyland

We got home from Disneyland on Thursday. Riding the rides at Disneyland and California Adventure was fun, but it wasn't all shits and giggles -- that's for sure.

While riding the bus to the hotel, Jake flew off the bus seat and hit his head on the floor. This was right after I told him to sit down and he replied, "no!" See, we dragged a damn car seat with us all the way down there, only to discover that we couldn't use it anyway because the Disney Express bus doesn't have seat belts.

The first night, I woke numerous times throughout the night because I was worried about Jake falling onto the floor. Twice, I had to move him to the center of the bed. The next night (after getting next to no sleep and having an exhausting day at Disneyland), I was too tired to keep up with resituating Jake on the bed, so Jake fell. He hurt his nose pretty bad -- it was bleeding. He still has a huge scab on and under his nose. See, he's too big for a portable crib and he would never sleep on the floor, so the only two alternatives is letting him sleep by himself on a double bed and wake every so often to move him, or let him sleep with us and get NO sleep at all.

Well, from that night on, Jake slept with us in a cramped double bed. Yes, I chose NO sleep at all. Every night, Erik and I were kicked, slapped, poked, pushed and laid on. I got no sleep the entire trip and I didn't feel well (probably because of the lack of sleep). This made me extremely crabby and left with little patience for dealing with Jake's crabbiness. Jake also seemed to have consumed some heavy duty speed because he couldn't sit still for a split second the entire trip. No, it wasn't sugar; he didn't really have any more than usual.

The fun that was had on our trip was during the rides, but Jake was very intolerant of standing in lines, walking with us, riding in the stroller, and just about everything else we did. THIS IS NOT THE AGE TO BE TAKING HIM ANYWHERE. He was out of his routine and Erik and I were feeling it the entire trip. All Jake wanted was his cars and his race car room. By the 2nd day, Jake was telling us he missed his race car room.

After that "relaxing" and "fun" "vacation" it's back to the other stress and the stress I never got a break from so I can make up for the time I took off to get the break that I never got.

I'm sure Jake won't mind visiting me in the looney bin...
